- ABOUT THE ARTIST -
Tom Hoyne - Thomas Maclay Hoyne (1924 - 1989) One of the midwest's outstanding illustrators and advertising artist for over 15 years. He was born in Chicago in 1923. During WWII he as a lieutenant aboard a Navy L.S.T. as a gunnery officer. His interests of sailing and fishing vessels and is known for his art of the sea. In 1983 he was awarded the Rudolph J. Schaefer Award at the Mystic International, an honor given to the artist whose work best documents our maritime heritage. He did several of the United Airlines travel advertisements such as Borrego Springs, Southern California, Muir Woods, Near San Francisco, Pacific Northwest, Grant Park, and Chicago.
